| Hi, glad you came to visit! | Jan 14, 2008 |
This is MY space...it is all about ME! NOT!!!
I am glad you came by to check out "My Home" and find out something about me. My wish is that you will leave here knowing a little about me, some more about the Catholic Church, and MOSTLY about God's Infinite Love & Mercy for you.
As for me, I am a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and a wife, of almost 32 years, to my childhood sweetheart, Bob. We have 3 children, Bob (31), Elizabeth (29), and Daniel, who died in March of 2007 in a motorcycle accident at the age of 23. I have a memorial page set up for Daniel on my Home Page @ http://mysite.verizon.net/vzerfclw//id20.html
Throughout the joys, trials, & sorrows of marriage, raising our 3 children, and burying Daniel, I have come to know that God is with me always and He loves me infinitely & unconditionally. I have also learned, first hand, that His Mercy is Endless and always available, all I have to do is just accept it.
Alot of my site is about my ongoing journey through grieving the loss of Daniel and God's Loving care which is with me through it all. There will also be some things about my journey of Faith with the loving, guiding hand of my Heavenly Father always leading me toward Home.
Growing up, the biggest influences in my life were my mother's family. Along with the best grandparents in the whole world, I was also blessed with 8 uncles and 1 aunt, PLUS their spouses and a whole BUNCH of cousins. We were, and still are, a very close knit family.
As for worship, when they went to church, it was a Pentecostal church. A few may have even been Baptist, I think, but my point is that we were very much a Fundamentalist family. They may not have gone to church on a regular basis, but when something happened and they needed help, they always knew that God would be there for them!!
I am ever so thankful for the seeds that were planted in my youth by this most loving of families. I was given excellent examples, by this wonderful family of mine, of faith in God & love of family.
In 1982, at the age of 24, I was received into the Latin Rite of Catholic Church. Some people call it the Roman Catholic Church. Doctrinally, what a huge difference between the two, Pentecostal to Catholic. My dear Grandmother, when she found out that I was even thinking of it, told me I was going to go to Hell! I understood then, that my Grandmother really had no idea of what the Catholic Church taught or believed, she was just repeating things that she had heard from others.
You can find more on my "Journey of Faith" @ http://mysite.verizon.net/vzerfclw//id1.html
Bishop Fulton Sheen once said, "There are not 100 people on earth who truly hate the Catholic Church, but there are millions that hate what they think is the Catholic Church!" This is soo true!
I have heard from my own family, whom I love dearly, not only that I was going to Hell, but that I needed to find a good "Spirit-filled" church, that I worshiped Mary & statues, and that I did not believe in the Holy Ghost ... just to name a few things that I can remember off the top of my head.
As for these statements against me, except for the going to Hell part, (which, with the continuing Grace of God, will NOT happen), I can promise you that NONE of these can be further from the truth.
I know that they love me and they are only repeating what they have learned from others, but I have to admit that it still stings a little. After all, they all practically raised me, they could trust my judgement just a little!
Sadly, they have probably gotten most, if not all, of their information from people who got their information, from people who got their information, from people who got their information who may have gotten theirs from someone who read a book written by a NON-Catholic or an ANTI-Catholic who more than likely had an "agenda". I hope you followed me there...LOL.
For me personally, if I want to know how to build a shelf, I would go to a carpenter, not a hairdresser. If I want to know how to deliver a baby, I would go to an OB/GYN, not a car mechanic. If you want to know what a Catholic believes, I would go to a Catholic and ASK them. If more people would do this, they would find out that they have more in common than they thought!
It is my hope that by visiting "My Home" that people will leave here with a better understanding of the Catholic Church than when they came in. I am not here to convert ANYONE to the Church, but hopefully, you will leave here with a little more knowledge of, and maybe even some respect for, the Church. After all, She has survived almost 2000 years, plus many people, both inside and outside, that have tried to destroy Her.
May God bless you on your pilgrimage through this life and may you always know that He is near!
Yours in Christ,
Jeannie
